Thomas Massie, Nominated for Best Actor
“I think the American people deserve transparency.” — Thomas Massie
We wholeheartedly agree with him, so we know he’d welcome us to base our first lesson in political theatre on him.
Mr. Massie didn’t seem to be a fan of protecting children and victims, or even ending child marriages, until the corruption surrounding Epstein drew global attention, at which point Thomas decided it was time to show off his new beard. We aren’t Israel first by any means; however, no one likes a beardfisher or a bad actor. You’d be wise to check , because it’s already disappearing.
Welcome to Political Theatre 101
Political theatre refers to actions or events staged by politicians or governments primarily intended to create a certain impression or send a message to the public, rather than to achieve substantive policy goals or bring about real change.
These actions often have a dramatic or performative quality, emphasizing appearance and symbolism over meaningful action.
Political theatre can include speeches, debates, public demonstrations, or even legislative maneuvers that are more about influencing opinion, distracting from issues, or showcasing power than addressing underlying problems.
Definitions and Lingo
Referred to Committee
Essentially means to bury the Bill by allowing a committee or its chair to take no action — it's one of the most common ways a bill is effectively killed.
Vote by Voice
A fast method used to quickly pass uncontroversial or procedural measures. Lawmakers shout "yes" if they agree and "no" if they don't, and the person in charge decides the winner based on volume — votes are never written down, which means you'll never know who voted yes or no.
CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material)
Defined by Congress as any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a minor (a person under 18 years old), it encompasses both real and digitally created images that appear to depict minors engaged in sexually explicit acts.
Foreign Policy
The government defines "foreign policy" as the overall approach, actions, goals, strategies, and practices that guide the U.S.'s interactions with other countries. Congressional war power resolutions, such as the War Powers Resolution of 1973, are mechanisms within that framework that ensure that both Congress and the President share responsibility for decisions about military force — a cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy.
Unanimous Consent
A time-saving procedure to expedite legislation or routine business that assumes all members agree; if even a single member objects to the request, the procedure fails.
Child Safety Legislation
Our Congress has a habit of burying CSAM, Child Abuse & Safety, and Victim related legislation in committees, which are often decided by Voice Votes that are not recorded for public review.
We'd love for someone to find out when Congress became open to Voice Voting on the safety of our children they claim to care so much about.
